Afrobeats Love
He was beautiful like a love song. But not like a Taylor swift or shawn mendes love song.
“Omah Lay”, He said, arrogantly. Like that was the one question he could never fail even if he lost his memories.
“Everyone knows that” a mumble came from the corner of the room. I looked over to see my ex with a red cup in his hand. He stared at me so intently, reading my every thought.
He was saying “don’t fall in love with him just because he knows your favorite artist, which everyone knows by the way”
I looked away from him and back at the table in front of me. Everyone was waiting for me to confirm his answer but somehow, I think they all knew he was right.
Memories of my past relationship flooded my mind and it dawned on me.
Just like they know it’s Omah Lay, they knew it was him and now he knows who my eyes wander to and maybe they all know too.
I couldn’t help but be everywhere when I was in love. Was it intentional? I doubt.
I just loved so deeply, it ended up in the faces of others, just like a good afrobeats song.
I was incapable of loving in hushed tones.
